Dress Rehearsal

Dress rehearsal is an important part of recital weekend!
During dress rehearsal, the tech crew and stage managers have the opportunity to see dancer staging to create lighting cues. Teachers have designed lighting for their classes and this is their opportunity to test them out on stage with the dancers. Dancers have the opportunity to practice on stage with the lighting and learn where they enter/exit. For these reasons, it is important that your dancer attends ALL rehearsals- their individual class AND the whole program finale.

Each class will have 20 minutes scheduled (5 minutes of backstage prep and 15 minutes of onstage prep) PLUS a whole program rehearsal from 3:30 - 3:45 pm. Please arrive promptly so that we can keep to our schedule as best as possible- note the "arrive by" is 10 minutes before your rehearsal time. Think of this as the "latest time" that you should arrive on Saturday, May 3rd.

After your dancer's class rehearsal time, there will be the opportunity for a group photo in the auditorium lobby.

You do not need to stay at Towson between your dancer's rehearsal(s) and the whole program rehearsal. HOWEVER! Dancers will be backstage all of recital and not have the opportunity to see their fellow dancers on Sunday, so you are more than welcome to stay and watch from the audience on Dress Rehearsal Day.

**We understand that dancers in two dances may have an hour+ between each of their rehearsals. We thank you so much in advance for your patience & flexibility in getting them to each rehearsal on time. Recital Weekend is a time of great excitement and we will have games/activities available to keep them entertained if you choose to stay between these rehearsals vs. leaving.**

Make-up

Stage makeup enhances a dancer’s features so that their expressions are visible from the audience. The key to doing children’s makeup is to use natural colors. The child shouldn’t look “made up” with loud colors; rather, the makeup should make their features stand out from far away. Makeup for children is meant to emphasize features, not exaggerate them.
